The research behind the bowl
Growlrr publishes its methodology in the open — the standard, the two validation models, and the study behind them — so writers, vets and researchers can read it, cite it and argue with it. It was developed by founder Prasanna Muralidharan, a computational-mechanics engineer (MS, University of Cincinnati) who did cardiovascular-stent R&D before applying the same measured-evidence discipline to pet nutrition.

The BARC Framework
The two-axis standard — biological appropriateness × nutritional adequacy — with published quantitative boundaries (animal-derived energy, protein-to-fat ratio, fibre ceiling) for cats and dogs, plus the residual-correction principle and the allometric energy model.

Provenance
BARC is Growlrr's synthesis, and it names its debts. It inherits biological appropriateness from BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food), coined by the veterinarian Dr. Ian Billinghurst (Give Your Dog a Bone, 1993), and the discipline of correcting a home diet to a published nutrient standard from BalanceIT, created by Dr. Sean Delaney (DVM, MS), a board-certified veterinary nutritionist and former UC Davis faculty member. Growlrr keeps NRC 2006 as the baseline and requires both axes — with a boneless, cooked base whose micronutrient residual is closed by a validated correction.
