A puppy or kitten is not a small adult. They are building skeleton, brain and immune system at the same time, on a bowl that has to carry more calcium, phosphorus and energy per kilo than they will ever need again — and a growing animal that misses those floors does not catch up later.
Growth needs different mineral targets, not a smaller adult dose. Higher calcium, phosphorus and energy density, scaled by age and projected adult weight.
